The seventh edition of the Bayern Youth Cup Nigeria has officially commenced at the Inspire Sports Complex (NITEL Field) in Lagos, drawing participation from twelve promising youth football teams across the country.

The annual tournament, backed by German football giants Bayern Munich, aims to provide a platform for emerging Nigerian footballers to display their talent on an international stage and potentially secure pathways to professional careers.

Among the key figures attending this year’s edition are Lars Weichert, Head of International Youth Programs at Bayern Munich FC, and Diego Contento, a former Bayern Munich defender and UEFA Champions League winner. While this marks Weichert’s fourth visit to Nigeria, it is Contento’s first, having previously shared the pitch with players such as David Alaba during his professional career.
