Kate Henshaw has had enough. The veteran Nollywood actress has taken to social media to lash out at online trolls who resort to name-calling whenever they disagree with her views. Frustrated by the recurring insults, she called for more intelligent and constructive conversations rather than crude verbal attacks.
Henshaw, one of the most outspoken figures in the Nigerian entertainment industry, expressed her displeasure via her X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday. She condemned the habit of labeling women with derogatory names, describing it as both exhausting and intellectually lazy.
“Name-calling like olosho, prostitute & the like is just so tiring to hear. Can’t you come up with more intelligent responses?” she posted. She went further to mock those engaging in such behavior, saying, “Oh well, sense was in abundance, but that’s when you decided to walk away so that you would be bereft of brains. Dullards.”
This isn’t the first time the celebrated actress has spoken against cyberbullying. Henshaw, known for her fearless takes on societal issues, has consistently advocated for online decorum and responsible engagement on social media.
Her comments have sparked widespread reactions, with many social media users applauding her stance while others debate the toxic culture of online interactions. Some fans have also called on relevant authorities to implement stricter measures against cyber harassment.
The prevalence of online bullying in Nigeria has been a growing concern, particularly for celebrities and women in public spaces. Many actresses and female influencers have repeatedly complained about being unfairly targeted with sexist insults.
As the debate rages on, Henshaw’s bold response has reignited conversations about online respect and the need for more meaningful discourse, especially on platforms that encourage free speech.
