Governor Siminalayi Fubara has offered a message of hope to Rivers State residents, assuring them that the ongoing political crisis will ultimately make the people stronger. Speaking during a visit by Muslim leaders from 20 Islamic-based groups, including the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Fubara encouraged the public to trust in a higher purpose behind the turmoil.
The governor made his remarks during an Eid-El-Fitr visit at his private residence in Port Harcourt. While acknowledging the stress and uncertainty caused by the political upheaval, Fubara emphasized that supernatural forces beyond human understanding may be at play in shaping the course of events. “No matter what we see, we must remain steadfast,” he stated, urging Rivers residents to hold on to their faith, adding that the crisis will eventually lead to a stronger and more resilient society.
Fubara called for patience and perseverance, drawing an analogy from religious history, saying, “If God could be patient with Noah to allow even the snail to enter the Ark, then patience remains an essential virtue in our struggle.” He reminded the delegation and his supporters that, despite the challenges, the goal is to remain committed to justice and equality for all.
The governor took the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to an egalitarian society, despite the painful process it may require. “We believe in egalitarianism, and if our beliefs bring us some pain, so be it. The most important thing is that we stand on the side of truth and righteousness,” he said.

He also reflected on the need for unity and cooperation between religious groups in the state. Despite being unable to formally engage with the Muslim community during their celebrations, Fubara promised that the government would work towards strengthening relationships once the crisis subsides. He assured the delegation that their requests would be addressed as soon as the political uncertainty was resolved.

Speaking on behalf of the Muslim community, Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor voiced strong support for Fubara, praising his inclusive approach to governance and his recognition of Rivers’ religious diversity. Uhor also called on President Bola Tinubu to review the current emergency rule in Rivers and restore Fubara’s full authority, highlighting the governor’s effective leadership during the crisis.
During the visit, prayers were offered for Governor Fubara, his family, Rivers State, and the nation, as the community expressed solidarity with him in navigating the challenges facing the state.
