In a bid to promote civic awareness, leadership, and community service among secondary school students in Nigeria, Civic Club held its state competition in Imo State on Friday 21st, 2025 ; and Owerri Girls Secondary School emerged as the winner.
In his remarks, the State Support Officer, Connected Development, Chimezie Ebosie
informed that the goal of the civic club is to foster active citizenship among students, equipping them with knowledge of civic responsibility, governance, and social accountability.

He also disclosed that the quiz contest was organised by Connected Development (CODE) with support from Oxfam in Nigeria.
Mr. Chimezie congratulated all the participating schools for their efforts while encouraging OWGSS to get prepared to represent Imo State at the National Civic Club in Abuja, scheduled for March,2025
Expressing his feelings, their teacher, Mr. Akakem Christian was elated for the milestone accomplished. In his words, “We prepared very well, and they deserve the laurels. We are working assidously to ensure they bring back the cup to Imo State by God’s grace.”
In the same vein, a representative from the National Orientation Agency, Mrs. Chinenye Chike spoke to the participants on the need to cultivate values such as integrity, patriotism, and social norms to help them navigate through life challenges.
Their were drama presentations and riddles from the participating schools.
