1. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has written to over 85 entities comprising corporate organisations and individuals over an ongoing investigation into alleged fraudulent foreign exchange allocations under the embattled former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele. There are indications that Emefiele might face an amended charge to include new discoveries in the ongoing probe of forex transactions under his probe.

2. The Rivers State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected kidnappers during a raid of a criminal hideout in Igwuruta, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state. The police command said the arrests were made on Saturday after the Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, led officers to comb bushes and destroy suspected kidnappers’ camp.

3. Gunmen on Saturday abducted another traditional ruler in the Orodo Autonomous Community in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, Eze Samuel Ohiri. The heavily armed four-member gang stormed the residence of the former chairman of the Imo Council of Traditional Rulers in a green Toyota Highlander.

4. The Accountant-General of the Federation, AGF, Dr. Oluwatoyin Madein, has faulted the ‘disbursement’ of N585,189,500.00 into a personal account. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, in a viral document personally signed by her and directed to the Office of the AGF, instructed the payment of the funds to one Oniyelu Bridget Mojisola.

5. The National Chairman, All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, said yesterday that state governors and federal lawmakers from opposition parties were on their way to the ruling party. The immediate past Kano State governor also said the APC was poised to continue with its winning streak by clearing all the seats in contention during next month’s bye elections across the country.

6. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja, Nyesom Wike, has mended fences and realigned with his estranged friend and South South Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Victor Giadom. Wike, who was hosted by Giadom at his Bera country home in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State on Saturday, said he was happy to be back to his friend.

7. Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has issued a warning that without immediate action to halt the long-standing violence claiming lives in the state, Nigeria could find itself in a situation akin to war-torn Somalia. Concerned about the prolonged cycle of violence, the governor called for collective efforts from critical leaders to address root causes and propose effective solutions.

8. The police command in Ogun says a couple, Mba Moses and Florence Moses, have been arrested for the alleged murder of one Mark Kalu after the victim sustained injuries from a fight between them. This is contained in a statement signed by spokesperson of the command, SP Omolola Odutola, and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta on Saturday.

9. Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated multiple award-winning actor and producer, Funke Akindele, on the performance of her latest movie, A Tribe Called Judah, which grossed over N1 billion recently at the cinema. He described Akindele’s A Tribe Called Judah’s box office feat as an affirmation of Lagos as truly the home of entertainment, creativity, culture and Arts.

10. Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a self professed pastor, Clinton John of the Mega World Healing Ministry, Giwa Agbado in Ifo Local Government Area of the state for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl. The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, in a statement on Saturday night, said John has been having unlawful carnal knowledge of the girl since 2022 when she was barely 14 years old.
