Crisis has erupted between the Lagos State chapter of the Labour Party and its national leadership, leading to the trading of words and accusations.

Consequently, supporters of the presidential candidate of LP, Peter Obi, under the aegis of “Obidients Movement Lagos”, on Wednesday warned some national officers of the party against their continuous interference in the affairs of its Lagos State chapter.

The national officers of LP facing the accusation include its National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, and the National Legal Adviser, Akingbade Oyelekan.

A statement by the coordinator of OML, Femi Collins, and Secretary, Desmond Onyeagocha, demanded that the national chairman of LP, Julius Abure, should warn them to desist from interfering in the internal affairs of its Lagos State chapter.

The statement read, “We have observed the manner with which the identified national officers have used their offices and influences to intervene in the processes of the party, especially as relates to candidates and INEC.

“We are confident of good results in Lagos State both for our presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and all other candidates, therefore, nothing must jeopardise the peace and processes of the party.

“We believe that Arabambi and Oyelekan have enough duties to attend to in strengthening the party in other 35 states of the federation than focus on Lagos; thereby causing distraction, disruption and animosities among members.”
