An Osun-based non-governmental organization has made a case for the adequate and effective implementation of the Violence Against Person Prohibition Law (VAPPL) and the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) in the state.

The Executive Director of the Community Advancement Initiative for Self Reliance, CA145R, Eni Ayeni, in a statement on Monday, said the call for the state government to implement the VAPPL and ACIL had become imperative to curb all forms of abuse.

Ayeni said, “We are geared towards the creation of awareness of the salient provisions of the VAPPL and ACIL in providing redress for survivors & victims of SGBV and speedy justice service delivery & resolution of SGBV cases.

“Six Nigerian States – Bauchi, Benue, Enugu, Kaduna, Osun and FCT – have passed and domesticated the Violence Against Person Prohibition Law (VAPPL) and Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) but lack adequate and effective implementation.

“We also want to use this medium to sensitize the public about the existence of the laws in the state and how they can benefit them.

She explained that the group was committed to the course of women, children and persons with disabilities.
