Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has inaugurated a governorship campaign council and committees of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state for the 2023 general elections.

While inaugurating the council tagged ‘Umo Eno/Akon Eyankeyi campaign organisation at the campaign secretariat, Ewet Housing Estate Uyo; the governor urged members to adhere to issue-based campaigns devoid of calumny, vitriol, mudslinging and violence even as he urged the opponents to reciprocate same.

Gov. Emmanuel expressed hope that the standard bearer of the party, Pastor Umo Eno would perform more than him when elected stressing, “He that is coming after me, is greater than me.”

He also urged members of the PDP to work as hard as they have always done over the years to ensure a resounding victory for the party.

“Focus on issue-based campaigns devoid of calumny, mudslinging, vitriol and violence,” the governor admonished.

Speaking after the inauguration, the Director-General of the Umo Eno/Akon Eyakenyi Campaign Organization, Amb. Assam Assam SAN, assured that the campaigns would be free of violence, thuggery and other political vices.

In his remarks, the PDP governorship candidate, Pastor Umo Eno, reiterated his resolve to build on the solid foundation of the current administration to realize his ARISE vision.

He intimated the audience that his greatest motivation in public service has always been the bequeathing of an egalitarian society to the youths and generations unborn.

“We will ensure we run an all inclusive government, continue with your legacy projects and ensure that none of them suffers.

“We will take it to greater heights, we will add value to it. And we will make sure that the people of Akwa Ibom continue to derive the full value chain of those legacy projects, from Ibom air to the Ibom deep sea port to the roads to all of the factories, we will continue to expand the scope of the value you have added to Akwa Ibom,” he said.
