A member of the Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ahamdi Nweke has said the Igbo extraction of the southeast are marginalized because of their leaders’ quest to run errands and eat crumbs from what they see as national parties.

The Abia party chieftain also harped on the urgent need for the people of Igbo nation to jettison the national parties and work towards embracing each other to strengthen their own and use it as a bargain for power shift.

Nweke who spoke in an interview with journalists in Aba insisted that the time has come for Ndigbo to take a regional approach to politics.

“I think the time has changed for us to take a regional approach to politics. People keep saying we need to be in the national party at the centre, no! One should look at Anambra State, how we have been able to sustain its development.

“If you look at all the agitations for separation which is being called for especially by the young people, they are about bad governance. I am quite sure that every Igbo man doesn’t feel happy in what we have as Nigeria today. But because many of our politicians are feeding fat from what is happening, they are allowing it to continue”.

He queried, “How long will we continue in that situation? If the administration was working well at both the federal and state levels, the level of separatist agitations we are seeing would not be heightened or at least not to the extent that we are seeing it today.

“If I decide to run for Senatorial election for Abia south district, I will run under APGA. It is a party of ndigbi (Nkaa bu nke-anyi), meaning (This is our own). Let us pull together and change the narratives in the southeast, first and foremost, and let’s see where we go from that”, Nweke submitted
