Singer, Uba Obinna Kennedy aka Kemzy in an interview with www.otowngist.com said he is yet to see the kind of trend that will make him change his style of music.
The Federal Polytechnic Nekede undergraduate said he is aware that Nigeria is always working with one genre of music but he is sure of a breakthrough in his genre in no distant time.
“At a point music ceased to be a thing of quality or class but a thing of genre. Only dance-hall artistes are recognized and just as it is known as commercial music, there is this believe that it is the only type of music that can sell in Nigeria.
Rappers are converting to singers and every day we see lyrics recycled on instrumentals that look alike. Things like this can never move me because I will keep being an R&B artiste till the end”
Kemzy who wants to toe the paths of Akon, John Legend and Bruno Mars said his songs are mostly inspired by happenings around him also revealing that on the afro side of music he is looking up to the likes of Tuface Idibia, WizKid and Banky W.
His former works include ‘We will live together’ and ‘Shower your love’ featuring music producer cum singer, D7.
