Herbert Wigwe’s Daughter Tochi Marries Wilson Aikhomu in Traditional Wedding

Tochi Wigwe, eldest surviving daughter of the late Access Bank Chief Executive Officer, Herbert Wigwe, has held her traditional wedding ceremony with her partner, Wilson Aikhomu, in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The private ceremony, attended by family members and close friends, featured traditional marriage rites, including the payment of the bride price, signing of family documents and the formal handing over of the bride to her husband’s family.

Photographs and videos from the ceremony emerged on social media on Thursday, attracting congratulatory messages and goodwill wishes from friends and well-wishers.

Tochi has an academic background that includes studies at New York University and a master’s degree from Imperial College London. She previously worked as an analyst at Access Bank and also interned at Coronation Merchant Bank.

She currently serves as a director at the HOW Foundation, an organisation established in memory of her late father.

Her husband, Wilson Aikhomu, is a Lagos-based investment professional who serves as Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Zoya Admiralty.

Aikhomu is the son of the late Rear Admiral Joseph Aikhomu and nephew of former Chief of General Staff, Admiral Augustus Aikhomu.

He studied Finance at California State University, Northridge, before obtaining a qualification in Investments and Risk Finance from the University of Westminster.

His previous professional experience includes working with Leadway and RMB Stockbroking before taking up his current position at Zoya Admiralty.

The wedding comes more than two years after Tochi lost her parents and elder brother in a helicopter crash in the United States.

Her father, Herbert Wigwe, his wife, Chizoba, and their son, Chizi, died on February 9, 2024, when a helicopter carrying them crashed near Nipton, California, while travelling from Palm Springs to Boulder City, Nevada.

The crash also claimed the lives of former Nigerian Exchange Group Chairman, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, and two crew members.

Herbert Wigwe, who was 57 at the time of his death, was one of Nigeria’s prominent banking executives. He served as Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings and played a significant role in the growth and expansion of Access Bank.

His death attracted widespread tributes from Nigeria’s banking, business and political communities.
