UEFA Orders Minute’s Silence Across European Fixtures for Deceased Tenerife Forward

UEFA has announced that a minute’s silence will be observed at its matches this week in honour of CD Tenerife forward Jesus de Miguel Alameda, who died at the age of 30.

The European football governing body confirmed the tribute following the striker’s death, which has sparked widespread mourning across Spanish and European football.

De Miguel passed away on Tuesday morning after being involved in a collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono during a match. His death has left his teammates, club officials and supporters mourning the loss of a player who had recently enjoyed professional success.

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin expressed the organisation’s sadness over the tragedy, saying the football community was struggling to find words to describe the loss.

“We are heartbroken by the death of Jesus de Miguel Alameda. We have searched for words and found only silence. In that silence, our hearts and thoughts are with his family, his teammates, everyone at CD Tenerife, and all those who mourn this tragic loss,” Ceferin said in a statement.

Tenerife also paid tribute to the forward, expressing sympathy for his family, loved ones and everyone connected to the club.

The club said there were no words capable of easing the pain caused by his death, adding that it stood with those affected by the tragedy.

De Miguel’s family also thanked members of the football community for their messages of support and appealed for privacy as they mourned their loss.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) joined the tributes, expressing condolences to the player’s family, friends, Tenerife and the club’s supporters.

The federation said Spanish football was mourning his death and extended its sympathies to everyone affected by the loss.

UEFA’s decision to observe a minute’s silence across its continental fixtures will provide an opportunity for clubs, players and supporters to honour the late forward as tributes continue to emerge.
