Imo Deputy Speaker Warns APC Against Association With Okorocha

The Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Amara Iwuanyanwu, has warned that associating former Governor Rochas Okorocha with the All Progressives Congress (APC) could undermine the party’s chances in the forthcoming election.

Iwuanyanwu insisted that the APC had no political relationship with Okorocha, saying the former governor should not be associated with the party or its candidates.

He made the remarks during a press conference following a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja directing Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma to stop presenting himself as the APC candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District.

Describing Okorocha as a “cancer”, the deputy speaker argued that any attempt to link the former governor with the APC could damage the party’s electoral prospects.

Iwuanyanwu said he was speaking both as a candidate and on behalf of other APC candidates, maintaining that Okorocha had no affiliation with the party.

“Rochas Okorocha is a cancer, and associating him with our party will cost us at the election. We have nothing to do with Rochas,” he said.

He added that Okorocha’s name had no connection with the APC, reiterating that the party’s candidates should not be linked to the former governor.

The remarks came amid political tensions surrounding the APC’s representation in the Imo West Senatorial District following the court ruling involving Uzodimma.
