Nathaniel Bassey Becomes First African Gospel Artiste to Surpass One Billion YouTube Views

Nigerian gospel singer and pastor Nathaniel Bassey has surpassed one billion views on YouTube, becoming the first African gospel artiste to reach the milestone, according to figures from his official channel.

Statistics displayed on his YouTube channel, Nathaniel Bassey Main, showed that it had recorded 1,014,544,577 views and attracted 5.24 million subscribers since its creation in 2011.

The achievement was driven by his popular worship songs, including Imela, You Are God and Onise Iyanu, as well as his online music and prayer movement, Halleluyah Challenge.

The milestone came after the conclusion of the latest edition of the Halleluyah Challenge, which ran from October 5 to 30, 2026. Bassey founded the prayer and worship movement in 2017, and it has since attracted participants from different parts of the world.

News of the achievement generated excitement among his followers on social media, with many taking to his page to congratulate the gospel minister.

The one-billion-view milestone marks a significant achievement for Bassey and highlights the reach of his gospel music and online worship activities beyond Nigeria.
