Nwibubasa Declares Opposition to Wike, Vows to Fight for Rivers Youths

Dr Leloonu Nwibubasa, a former Rivers State commissioner and spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state, has declared his determination to oppose Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
Nwibubasa made the declaration during an appearance on Symfoni TV, where he discussed Nigeria’s political climate and developments in Rivers State.
Explaining his position, the former commissioner drew an analogy from the Bible, referring to the account of Jesus being presented at the temple and a prophecy concerning the rising and falling of many in Israel.
“I am for the falling of Nyesom Wike. I am the weapon fashioned against him,” Nwibubasa said.
He added that his refusal to return to Wike, unlike some people who had previously worked with the minister, was a deliberate decision. According to him, he was not seeking personal benefits but wanted what he described as “natural comfort.”
Nwibubasa further accused Wike of holding back the potential of young people in Rivers State, arguing that the minister’s influence had affected the future of millions of youths in the state.
“He is one man that I will stand to speak against and ensure he doesn’t continue because he has imprisoned the destiny in millions of Rivers youth,” he said.
The ADC spokesperson described his opposition to Wike as a worthwhile struggle, signalling his intention to remain vocal against the minister’s political influence in Rivers State.
His remarks add to the ongoing political contestation surrounding Wike and the future direction of Rivers State politics as political actors position themselves ahead of future elections.
