Atiku Slams Tinubu Over Security for Kaduna Billboards Amid Worsening Insecurity

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu over security arrangements around his campaign billboards in Kaduna State, questioning the government’s priorities amid persistent insecurity across Nigeria.

Atiku, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, made the remarks in a post on his X account on Friday.

He argued that the protection provided for the president’s billboards contrasted sharply with the security challenges facing communities affected by banditry and terrorist attacks.

“Bola, you claim Nigerians love you, yet your billboards in Kaduna require security guards. Bandits raid villages, terrorists attack communities, and families live in fear,” Atiku wrote.

The former vice president accused Tinubu’s administration of placing greater emphasis on protecting the president’s public image than on safeguarding ordinary Nigerians.

“Your posters enjoy protection that millions of Nigerians can only dream of. What a tragic statement of your government’s priorities,” he added.

Atiku urged the president to show the same urgency in protecting citizens as he allegedly does in securing his campaign materials.

“Bola, please protect Nigerians with the same urgency you protect your image!” he said.

The comments add to the political criticism directed at Tinubu’s administration over insecurity, with opposition figures continuing to question the government’s response to attacks on communities and residents.

Atiku’s remarks were made in the context of the security arrangements around the billboards. The supplied report did not include a response from the Presidency or an explanation from security officials about why guards were reportedly deployed.
