Kim Kardashian Faces Online Backlash Over Photos of Chicago, True and Dream in China

Kim Kardashian has drawn mixed reactions online after sharing photos of her daughter, Chicago West, and her nieces, True Thompson and Dream Kardashian, during the Kardashian family’s trip to China. While many fans praised the girls’ matching outfits and their time together, some social media users questioned their poses and the decision to share the images publicly.

The 45-year-old reality television star posted the pictures on Instagram with the caption, “CHINA 🇨🇳 with Lady Luck.” Her photo carousel also featured Kim in a black dress, alongside appearances by her mother, Kris Jenner, and sister Khloé Kardashian.

In one set of photographs, Chicago, 8, posed alongside her cousins True, 8, and Dream, 9, in matching Chinese-inspired outfits. Other images showed the girls eating McDonald’s in their hotel room and walking together through a hallway.

The pictures attracted positive comments from fans who described the children as adorable and praised their close relationship. Some compared Chicago’s look to her mother’s, while others celebrated the cousins’ matching outfits and the opportunity for the girls to spend time together.

However, other users criticised some of the poses, describing them as inappropriate for children. One commenter called the poses “ridiculous for children”, while another questioned why celebrity parents share such photographs of their young children online.

The discussion also included concerns about the exposure of celebrity children on social media, with some critics arguing that the images could invite unwanted attention. Others disagreed, saying the girls were simply wearing normal outfits and that their poses should not be interpreted negatively. The reactions reflected differing views about children’s privacy, online visibility and how photographs of young celebrities are perceived.

Kim has continued documenting the family’s China trip, including photographs of the cousins visiting the Great Wall of China in Beijing. In a previous birthday tribute to Chicago, she described her daughter as “smart, sweet, silly” and said it was “magical” to see the love shared among the cousins.

Khloé Kardashian has also spoken about the close bond between her children and their cousins. In a 2024 Snapchat question-and-answer session, she said they met “pretty much daily” and described their relationship as being more like siblings than cousins.

Khloé has previously joked about the prospect of the younger Kardashian-Jenner family members becoming teenagers around the same time. Meanwhile, discussions among the family’s parents about whether their children might eventually enter the public spotlight have highlighted the ongoing question of how celebrity families balance public attention with their children’s privacy.
