Harry and Meghan Draw Crowds in Nottingham During Visit to Community Charities

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attracted crowds of supporters during their visit to Nottingham, where they toured community organisations working with young people, families and vulnerable residents. The visit drew a friendly response from many members of the public, highlighting the continued interest in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex despite their polarising public image.

The couple’s final stop was Epic Partners in Sneinton, where at least 200 people reportedly gathered outside to catch a glimpse of them. Some supporters had followed the pair between venues throughout the day, hoping for an opportunity to greet them or take photographs.

As Harry and Meghan left Epic Partners, members of the crowd shouted words of support, including “we love you Harry”. One visitor, Dean Mackenzie, described the occasion as a “once-of-a-lifetime opportunity” and said he hoped to give Meghan flowers and take a photograph with her.

Earlier, the couple visited the Himmah Hub in Hyson Green, where they reunited with four women who had cooked for families affected by the Grenfell Tower fire. The women had featured in a community cookbook supported by Meghan. The reunion included hugs and an emotional exchange, with the group expressing how much they had missed one another.

Meghan described the reunion as “really, really meaningful”, while Harry said it was wonderful to be back in Nottingham. During the Himmah visit, the Grenfell community cooks also joined the charity’s kitchen team to help prepare a meal that included chicken tagine.

The visit also brought out supporters from different backgrounds. Rafi Rashad, a 20-year-old student originally from Jakarta, Indonesia, said he had taken the opportunity to see the couple while studying in the UK. Other supporters praised Meghan’s work and described her as a positive role model, particularly for women from mixed-race backgrounds.

However, not everyone left satisfied. Shaghofta Akhtar, 53, said she was disappointed that Meghan had not come outside to greet people who had been waiting. She added that she understood the couple might have security reasons for limiting contact with the crowd.

Security remained visible throughout the visit, including a small police presence and vehicles restricting access near the final venue. Although Harry and Meghan continue to attract sharply divided opinions, the turnout in Nottingham demonstrated that public interest in their activities remains strong.
