Kaduna Okada Rider Killed, Motorcycle Stolen as Family Searches for Missing Father

A 40-year-old commercial motorcycle rider, Monday Dauda, popularly known as an Okada rider, has been found dead in Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna State. His body was discovered at Kasuwa Monday on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, after his family searched for him through the night.

Dauda’s family began looking for him after he failed to return home at his usual time. His first son, Samson Monday, told DAILY POST that his father typically left home around 7 am and returned by 6 pm. When he did not arrive that evening, the family tried calling his phone but found it switched off.

Samson said the family initially feared that Dauda might have been arrested by law enforcement officers. They visited police stations and Federal Road Safety Corps offices, as well as hospitals in Kaduna metropolis and nearby areas, but could not find him.

The search continued until Wednesday morning, when family members discovered Dauda’s lifeless body. According to his son, the body had visible bruises. The report also stated that his motorcycle was missing, although it did not provide details about the circumstances surrounding his death or the theft.

Dauda had turned to commercial motorcycle riding after the closure of the textile company where he previously worked, according to his son. His death has left his wife, Jenifer Monday, and their three children facing an uncertain future.

Speaking to DAILY POST, Jenifer said the family had planned to relocate to their hometown in December because of financial hardship and the difficult economic situation. She expressed distress over her husband’s death and the loss of his motorcycle, which had been his means of earning a living.

The bereaved woman is also caring for their three-month-old baby girl. She questioned how she would provide for the children without her husband, describing the incident as an unexpected tragedy.

Efforts by DAILY POST to obtain comments from the Kaduna State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the command’s public relations officer could not be reached by phone. The report did not provide further information about an investigation or any arrests in connection with Dauda’s death.
