Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, one-half of the now-defunct P-Square, has emotionally recounted one of the most painful moments of his life, alleging that his twin brother, Paul Okoye, and former manager, Jude Okoye, pressured him to terminate his first pregnancy with his now-wife, Lola Omotayo.
Speaking in an emotional video shared on his Instagram page, Peter fought back tears as he recalled how Lola became pregnant when he was 27 years old. He said he chose to announce the pregnancy publicly himself because he did not want the news to be broken by someone else.
According to Peter, the announcement came during the Soundcity Music Awards, shortly after P-Square received an award. While accepting the honour, he thanked God, the group’s fans and supporters before revealing that he also wanted to dedicate the award to the mother of his unborn child.
“When I was 27 years old, my girlfriend then, Lola, became pregnant. I didn’t want the news to break from someone else, so I decided to announce it myself,” Peter said.
He alleged that the announcement immediately caused tension within the group, claiming that Jude and Paul walked out in anger after the event.
Peter further claimed they believed the pregnancy would damage P-Square’s image and career and allegedly urged him to convince Lola to terminate it.
“Immediately after that, Jude and Paul walked out, saying my announcement would ruin our career. They insisted that Lola should abort the baby,” he alleged.
The singer also accused them of attempting to drive a wedge between him and Lola by allegedly fabricating an email claiming the pregnancy was a ploy to trap him and that he was not the father of the child.
The emotional revelation comes amid the ongoing public fallout within the Okoye family, with Peter and Jude already locked in a legal dispute over the management of the group’s finances and business affairs. The latest allegations add another chapter to the long-running family crisis that has continued to attract widespread public attention.
Neither Paul Okoye nor Jude Okoye has publicly responded to Peter’s latest claims at the time of filing this report.
