Veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has shared an emotional testimony of personal transformation during a church service in Abuja, telling worshippers that he now feels “lighter and happier” after a difficult period in his life.
The actor appeared on Sunday at Salvation at the Mountain of God International Ministry (SMOGIM), where he addressed the congregation during a testimony session. A video from the service has since gone viral on social media, attracting widespread reactions from fans and well-wishers.
Speaking before the congregation, Anuku reflected on his recent struggles and expressed gratitude for what he described as divine intervention.
“Praise the Lord! Some of you know me, and some don’t. You may have seen some pictures online before now, but that person is not me anymore.
“I came here feeling heavy, and now I am lighter and happier. I want to thank God for sending help to me and saving me.”
During the testimony, the veteran actor also revealed that he lost the mother of his children during the challenging period of his life. His son and daughter were present with him during the church service.
Hanks Anuku, once one of Nollywood’s most recognisable actors, has remained largely out of the public spotlight in recent years. His absence from the movie industry and several videos that surfaced online over time had sparked concern among fans about his wellbeing, although the actor has not publicly confirmed reports regarding his health.
The church, led by Apostle Leonie Abuh, has attracted increased public attention following the circulation of the actor’s testimony. Salvation at the Mountain of God International Ministry (SMOGIM) is known for its Sunday prophetic services, which are held at the Top Rank Galaxy Hotel in the Utako area of Abuja.
During the service, one of the ministers who coordinated the testimony session thanked God for the actor’s recovery journey and asked him to reveal his age to the congregation. Anuku responded that he is 64 years old, with the minister noting the positive change in his appearance since he first attended the church.
