Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has sparked conversation on social media after revealing that she burned the outfit she wore to the burial of late actor Alex Ekubo.

The actress shared the revelation with her followers on Instagram, posting a photo of the outfit and explaining the reason behind her decision.

According to Okorie, the act was based on advice she received from her godmother, who believes that clothing worn to funerals should not be kept after the burial ceremony.

Sharing her experience, the actress said she felt it was important to pass the information on to family members, friends, and her followers.

“This is the outfit I wore to Alex’s burial. My Godmother said it is not good to have the cloth you wore to a burial around you; you burn them. So family and friends take note. I felt I should share this information,” she wrote.

Okorie also offered prayers for long life and protection, reflecting on the fragility of life in the wake of the actor’s passing.

“May the Lord keep and bless us with long life. Amen. Chai,” she added.

Her post has since generated mixed reactions online, with some social media users agreeing with the tradition based on cultural and spiritual beliefs, while others described it as a personal practice rather than a widely accepted custom.

The actress did not indicate whether the belief was tied to a specific cultural tradition, but her disclosure has reignited discussions about funeral rites, superstitions, and customs observed in different parts of Nigeria.

Alex Ekubo’s death continues to draw tributes from colleagues and fans across the entertainment industry, with many remembering the actor for his contributions to Nollywood and his impact on those who worked closely with him.
