Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington has taken a swipe at fellow artist Portable, questioning the real source of his wealth and insisting that success should be visibly reflected in lifestyle and earnings.

The outspoken rapper made the remarks during a recent livestream conversation with content creator Peller, where he was encouraged to upload his music on streaming platforms such as Audiomack.

Speed Darlington rejected the suggestion, arguing that digital streaming platforms do not generate meaningful income for him, and insisting that he prefers direct payment for his music.

He further used the moment to criticise Portable, claiming that the singer’s financial status does not match his public image or lifestyle.

“I can’t see any proof of money on Portable… Anyone who wants to listen to my music must pay for it,” he said during the livestream.

He had lamented that despite having his songs streamed widely across platforms, the financial returns have not matched his expectations.
