The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State has urged motorists to embark only on essential journeys and to reduce speeding during the Easter holiday to minimise road accidents.

Babatunde Gold, speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Ota, stressed that limiting travel could significantly prevent unnecessary loss of lives.

“The FRSC is appealing to motorists to reduce their presence on the roads wherever possible so that mishaps can be prevented. When travel is necessary, motorists should drive with common sense, avoid driving against traffic, and refrain from competing with other road users,” Gold said.

He further advised that all vehicles should be roadworthy and that motorists should adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations. Motorists were also encouraged to cooperate with FRSC personnel during special patrols, which would be conducted to respond to emergencies and monitor reckless driving during the festive period.

The FRSC’s advisory comes ahead of the Easter holidays, with the federal government declaring Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays across Nigeria.
