Taiwo Saheed Allegedly Killed in Suspected Cult Reprisal Attack in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has intensified investigations into the alleged murder of Taiwo Saheed in Atan-Ota, following reports that suspected cultists carried out the killing in an alleged reprisal attack.
According to PUNCH Metro, the incident occurred on Thursday, October 15, 2026, in Igbo Olomi, Atan-Ota, Ogun State. Eyewitness accounts and footage reportedly shared on social media suggest that individuals suspected to be members of the outlawed Eiye Confraternity may have been involved.
The footage reportedly shows Saheed being attacked with what appears to be a machete. Other individuals seen in the video allegedly cheered during the incident. The identities of the suspected attackers and the circumstances that led to the killing have not been established in the supplied report.
The police confirmed the case on Monday, with Ogun State Police Command spokesperson Babaseyi Oluseyi saying officers were working to identify and arrest those responsible.
“The Ogun State Police Command is intensifying investigations into the murder of Taiwo Saheed in Igbo Olomi, Atan-Ota, on 15 October 2026,” Oluseyi said.
He added that the police were taking proactive steps to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and ensure that those responsible were brought to justice.
“Proactive efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, unravel the circumstances of the incident, and ensure justice is served,” the spokesperson stated.
The incident adds to concerns about cult-related violence in parts of Ogun State. In April 2026, the command reportedly arrested four suspected cultists over allegations including assault, armed robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm and the theft of an iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The four suspects were identified as Samson John, 25; Olufowora Michael, 28; Odeh Samuel Ejeh, 25; and Olajide Jeremiah, 28. They were reportedly arrested after a complaint was lodged at a police station at about 11:30 p.m. on April 16, 2026.
Investigations into Saheed’s killing are ongoing. The police have not announced any arrests in connection with the case in the supplied report, and the alleged cult affiliation and reprisal motive remain unconfirmed.
