Lagos, Nigeria – All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Prince Emmanuel Odigie, has clarified his earlier comments about Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, saying he never claimed the governor did not attend school.

Odigie made the clarification during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, explaining that his earlier remarks were specifically about the governor’s alleged inability to pass the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examination in 2008.

“I never said Okpebholo didn’t go to school. I said he couldn’t pass WAEC in 2008, even at a miracle centre. That’s what I said,” he stated, urging journalists to verify his earlier comments.

The APC chieftain also described himself as someone who speaks openly, insisting that his position on political matters remains consistent and factual. He noted that the 2023 governorship election in Edo State had already been concluded, with Okpebholo emerging as governor.

“You know, I am a fearless man who speaks truth to power. You have the tape in which I said what I said. You can replay it. Election has come and gone. Senator Monday Okpebholo is the Governor of Edo State today,” he said.

Odigie added that he is focused on the future rather than revisiting past political disagreements, stressing that political contests are now settled and participants have moved on.

“I do not believe in going back. I believe I’m a futuristic person. I work for today and tomorrow. Election has been won and lost. Esue Ighodalo is now facing his business in Lagos. Monday is now the Governor of Edo,” he said.
