The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Imo State Command, has pledged its backing for the environmental sanitation and public health programmes of the Healthy and Sanitised Environment Foundation (THASEF).

The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by THASEF’s Imo State Chapter to the NSCDC Command Headquarters. The delegation was received by the state commandant, Mr Basil Igwebueze, alongside senior officers.

Amaraegbu Obinna Daniel, THASEF’s Imo State programme coordinator, called for strategic collaboration with the NSCDC to advance environmental sanitation, public safety, and community health across the state.

In response, Igwebueze noted that the foundation’s objectives align with the statutory mandate of the NSCDC, particularly in protecting lives, property, and critical infrastructure. He assured THASEF of the Command’s readiness to provide personnel, security coverage during sanitation exercises, and enforcement of environmental safety measures.

Separately, THASEF expressed willingness to collaborate with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Imo State Command, on environmental initiatives. Daniel highlighted that the foundation’s 2026 sanitation and public health programmes provide a platform for synergy with NYSC community development activities.

NYSC state coordinator, Evans Nnanna Okwor, described the collaboration proposal as “apt and well-timed,” noting that NYSC already engages corps members in environmental projects across the state.
