London, UK – The family of late Jeffrey Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre has criticised Britain’s former prince Andrew, declaring he “was never a prince,” after his arrest by UK police on Thursday.
Giuffre’s siblings said in a statement to CBS News:
“At last, today, our broken hearts have been lifted at the news that no one is above the law, not even royalty. He was never a prince. For survivors everywhere, Virginia did this for you.”
Andrew, formally Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was taken into custody on suspicion of misconduct during his tenure as a UK trade envoy. His arrest followed revelations that he may have sent potentially confidential documents to convicted US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Virginia Giuffre had previously accused Andrew of sexually abusing her on three occasions, including twice when she was 17, alleging she was trafficked by Epstein for this purpose.
The allegations, coupled with documents made public, have reignited outrage in the UK over Andrew’s connections to Epstein. In response, King Charles III stripped his brother of all royal titles and honours and announced that Andrew would be removed from his Windsor royal estate residence.
Andrew has consistently denied any sexual abuse claims. In 2022, he settled a lawsuit with Giuffre for a multi-million-pound sum, while making no admission of guilt.
The arrest marks a significant escalation in scrutiny of Andrew’s past actions and underscores continuing public and legal accountability for high-profile figures linked to Epstein.
