Public pressure is mounting after a viral TikTok video showed a young woman, identified as Mirabel, tearfully alleging she was sexually assaulted by a neighbour at her residence — a claim that has now triggered an official response from the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency.

In a statement released Tuesday, the agency confirmed it had taken notice of the disturbing video circulating across social media platforms and had begun urgent efforts to establish contact with the survivor.

“The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has taken note of the multiple tags and public concerns regarding a video currently circulating on social media, in which a young woman shared her experience of sexual assault at her residence on her TikTok page,” the statement read.

Officials said outreach attempts have been initiated through all available communication channels to offer psychological, medical and legal support, while also working to confirm her exact location.

“We want to state clearly that we have seen the reports and we are actively making efforts to reach the survivor to offer immediate support and appropriate intervention and ascertain the location. Our team has initiated contact through available channels and will continue efforts to establish communication.”

Disturbing Claims in Viral Video

In the now-viral clip posted Monday, Mirabel broke down while recounting the alleged assault. She described feeling emotionally shattered and overwhelmed.

“I felt like I couldn’t take it anymore,” she said.

She further disclosed that a friend rushed her to hospital after she consumed a harmful substance in distress.

“My chest is burning, and I am so tired and so broken… My friend had to rush me to the hospital to save me. I’m not mentally strong from everything that’s going on.”

Authorities have not released further medical details.

Case Transferred to Ogun Police

In a significant development, the DSVA confirmed that the sexual assault case has been transferred to police authorities in Ogun State for investigation.

While the agency did not immediately disclose reasons for the jurisdictional transfer, officials stressed that the Lagos State Government maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward domestic and sexual violence.

Call for Information

The agency appealed to members of the public who may have credible information that could assist in establishing direct contact with the survivor to reach out via its official platforms.

It reiterated that all reports are treated with strict confidentiality and urgency, assuring survivors that protection, care, and justice remain priorities.
