The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will embark on a two-week inauguration marathon to unveil completed infrastructure projects across Abuja and its satellite towns, as part of activities marking his second year in office.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, May 13, 2025, Wike said the initiative aims to “flog” residents with infrastructure — a metaphor he clarified as a positive deluge of developmental projects. “I told Mr. President last night that it will take you two full weeks to commission everything we have completed,” the Minister said.

The former Rivers State governor noted that the Presidential commissioning drive will not be limited to the Abuja city center. According to him, the President has agreed to personally inaugurate key projects while delegating some to the Vice President, the Senate President, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

One of the strategic moves Wike emphasized was ensuring that at least one major project is commissioned in each satellite town, to spread the dividends of democracy beyond the city’s highbrow neighborhoods. “The people in the suburbs must feel the government. As you commission in the city, you must also commission in the satellite towns,” he added.

Though specific project names were not disclosed, sources close to the FCT Administration say the rollout includes roads, healthcare facilities, water infrastructure, education centers, and transportation upgrades, many of which have been fast-tracked under Wike’s leadership.

Political observers see this as a high-stakes performance period for the Tinubu administration, using visible projects to reinforce its agenda on urban renewal and equitable development. The FCT Minister reiterated that this phase of delivery is proof of Tinubu’s commitment to “action over promises.”

As anticipation builds among residents and stakeholders, social media has already erupted with debates over the Minister’s use of the word “flog.” But for many, the underlying message is clear — Abuja is about to experience one of the largest project unveiling sprees in its history.
