John Obi Mikel Slams Man Utd Players After 3-0 Defeat to Bournemouth

Former Chelsea midfielder and Nigerian football legend John Obi Mikel has criticised Manchester United’s players following their reported 3-0 Premier League defeat to Bournemouth, describing their collective performance as disappointing.
Mikel questioned the quality of the squad, arguing that the players were not good enough as a team. He made the remarks on the Obi One Podcast after Manchester United’s loss on Sunday.
“Collectively, these Manchester United players are not good enough,” the former Super Eagles midfielder said.
He went on to describe the team’s performance as difficult to watch, expressing frustration with what he saw during the defeat.
“They were dreadful to watch, awful to watch. It was a disaster,” Mikel added.
His comments have placed renewed attention on Manchester United’s performances under Michael Carrick, with questions surrounding the team’s consistency and ability to compete across competitions, including the UEFA Champions League.
The criticism comes ahead of United’s next Premier League fixture against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. The match presents an opportunity for the team to respond on the pitch following the Bournemouth defeat.
For Chelsea, the encounter also offers a chance to test themselves against a United side facing scrutiny over its performances. Mikel, who enjoyed a successful spell at Stamford Bridge, has made his assessment clear: he believes the current United squad needs to demonstrate greater collective quality.
