Abba Hikima Withdraws Planned Support for Some APC Aspirants Over Alleged Oppression

Human rights activist Abba Hikima, national coordinator of the Tinubu Must Go movement, has announced that he will withdraw his planned support for some All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants, accusing them of supporting leaders he considers oppressive towards citizens.
Hikima announced the decision in a statement published on his Facebook page on Monday. He said his position changed after observing what he described as the aspirants’ apparent approval of the alleged mistreatment of members of the public.
“I hereby announce the withdrawal of all the support I had planned to give to some APC aspirants. This follows the happiness I noticed in them over the oppression of people from above and their support for oppressors,” he said.
The activist also criticised individuals who support leaders accused of oppressing citizens, arguing that such supporters should be held accountable for their actions. “Anyone who supports oppressive leaders in a community is an oppressor and our enemy,” Hikima stated.
Hikima had previously declared support for Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf despite his membership of the APC. That position had drawn attention to the political stance of the Tinubu Must Go movement.
However, in his latest announcement, Hikima did not name the APC aspirants affected by his decision or provide further details about the individuals whose conduct prompted the withdrawal of his planned support.
The announcement comes amid an earlier disagreement between the movement and the Kano State Police Command over a planned gathering in Kano. The group had accused the police of preventing it from holding the event after officers were deployed to the venue.
The police, however, denied preventing the gathering, saying their presence was intended to provide security for participants. Hikima’s latest statement marks a change in his declared position towards some APC aspirants, although the identities of those affected remain undisclosed.
