Tinubu Urges Nigerians to Keep Hope Alive, Says Tough Times Are Almost Over

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, saying the difficult period of sacrifices the country has endured is nearing an end.

The President made the appeal ahead of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day anniversary, scheduled for Thursday, October 1, 2026.

Tinubu spoke through the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, during the Independence Day Jumat prayer held at the National Mosque in Abuja on Friday.

He acknowledged that Nigeria had yet to reach its desired level of development but expressed optimism that the country was moving towards a brighter future.

According to the President, the 66th anniversary represents a significant milestone in Nigeria’s history, reflecting the country’s journey since gaining independence.

He also called on Nigerians to support the ongoing reforms, saying their cooperation was necessary to keep the country on the path to progress.

Tinubu expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for preserving the lives of Nigerians and granting the country peace as it approaches another Independence Day anniversary.
