Kogi: ADC Demands Police, DSS Probe After Members Allegedly Attacked at Meeting

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for an investigation after some of its members were allegedly attacked during a ward meeting in Ejule-Alla Ward, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday at the residence of the ward chairman. The ADC alleged that political thugs suspected to be loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) disrupted the meeting and injured several members.

The party’s Zonal Chairman, Adaji John Udale, urged the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to establish what happened and bring anyone found responsible to justice.

“We urge the Nigeria Police Force, the DSS and other security agencies to urgently investigate this incident and bring those responsible to justice,” Udale said.

The ADC expressed particular concern because Ejule-Alla is the hometown of Kogi State Deputy Governor Salifu Oyibo. The party urged authorities to ensure that political differences do not translate into violence or prevent opposition groups from holding lawful meetings.

The party also appealed to Igala socio-cultural organisations and community leaders to speak out against political violence and use their influence to discourage attacks on supporters of rival political parties.

The allegations come as political activity builds ahead of the 2027 general elections. Recent reports from Ejule said a separate ADC meeting was disrupted, with one party member reportedly injured, although details of the latest incident and the identities of those responsible remain subject to investigation.

The ADC urged affected members to remain calm and law-abiding while it pursues justice. The party said political disagreements should be settled through dialogue, persuasion and the ballot box rather than violence.
