Bayelsa United Get Jersey Boost from Ex-Players Ahead of 2026/27 NNL Season

Former players of Bayelsa United have donated a set of jerseys to the club ahead of its preparations for the 2026/27 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.

The gesture comes after the club’s relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), with the team now preparing for life in the NNL and a return to the top flight.

The jerseys were presented by a group of former Bayelsa United players led by Dr Ebiki Timitimi, a former chairman of the club. Timitimi said the donation was their way of supporting the team as it begins preparations for the new campaign.

“As ex-players of the team, we deemed it fit to support the team in our own little way. So, we decided to give a set of jerseys to the club because very soon they will start their pre-season friendlies,” Timitimi said.

He also appealed to supporters and critics of the club to channel their concerns constructively, urging them to engage the management and hear its position before making public criticisms.

The jerseys were received on behalf of Bayelsa United chairman Dr Peter Singabele and the management board by Godson Ekadi, who described the donation as an important show of solidarity from former players.

Ekadi said the gesture would provide encouragement for the club’s management, technical crew and players as preparations for the new season gather pace.

“It is a wonderful statement that has been made today by the ex-players, because when you get support from your immediate constituency it means that it’s going to be a wonderful season for us,” he said.

He described the donation as the first major support received from stakeholders ahead of the new campaign and called on other organisations and individuals to support the club.

Ekadi specifically appealed to corporate organisations and International Oil Companies (IOCs) operating in Bayelsa State to identify with the club and provide support as it prepares for the NNL season.

Bayelsa United’s preparations will include pre-season activities and friendly matches as the club begins its campaign to compete in the second tier of Nigerian football.

The donation from the former players provides an early show of support as the club seeks to regroup and prepare for the challenges of the 2026/27 season.
