Barcelona maintained their perfect start to the LaLiga season with a thrilling 5-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano at the Spotify Camp Nou, with Raphinha and Lamine Yamal both scoring twice.
Rayo stunned the reigning champions in the 12th minute when Álvaro García found Sergio Camello inside the area. The forward finished into the top corner, giving Joan García no chance and scoring the first league goal conceded by the Barcelona goalkeeper.
Barcelona responded quickly. Raphinha levelled in the 19th minute after combining with Pedri and Xavi Espart before producing a composed finish. Just two minutes later, Lamine Yamal completed the turnaround with a powerful left-footed strike into the top corner.
Barça extended their advantage six minutes after half-time when Rayo defender Florian Lejeune turned Anthony Gordon’s cross into his own net. Rayo refused to collapse, however, and Camello scored his second of the night in the 59th minute with a header from a corner.
The visitors continued to threaten and came close to an equaliser before Barcelona regained control. Gordon then produced another moment of quality, using a backheel to release Raphinha, who finished calmly in the 71st minute to restore Barça’s two-goal cushion.
Rayo continued to attack despite the setback, but Barcelona eventually put the result beyond doubt in the final minute of normal time. Lamine Yamal collected an assist from Adeyemi before calmly finishing to complete his brace and seal a seven-goal thriller.
The result gives Barcelona a third consecutive LaLiga victory and underlines the attacking strength of Hansi Flick’s side. Raphinha’s two goals also take his league tally to five, while Yamal bounced back from frustrating displays against Elche and Athletic Club with a decisive performance.
For Rayo, the defeat leaves them with just one point from their opening three matches. Camello’s two goals provided plenty of encouragement, but Barcelona’s quality in the final third ultimately proved too much for the visitors.
