Senate President Godswill Akpabio has praised Vice President Kashim Shettima’s record in public service, describing his political journey as one marked by courage, intellectual depth, patriotism and commitment to Nigeria.

Akpabio made the remarks in a birthday message personally signed on Wednesday to celebrate Shettima’s 60th birthday. The message was made available by Akpabio’s Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom.

The Senate President described Shettima as an accomplished public servant, recalling his progression from commissioner to governor, senator and Vice President of Nigeria.

Akpabio particularly praised Shettima’s leadership as governor of Borno State during a period of intense insecurity, saying he remained at his duty post despite the challenges posed by terrorism.

He said Shettima demonstrated resilience by continuing to provide leadership when violence tested the resolve of residents and challenged the authority of the Nigerian state.

Akpabio also commended Shettima’s role as Vice President and his partnership with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in implementing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to him, the partnership between Tinubu and Shettima reflects the importance of unity of purpose at the highest levels of government as Nigeria works to address its current challenges and build a more prosperous future.

The Senate President said Shettima’s 60th birthday was not only an opportunity to celebrate his life but also to recognise the years he had devoted to public service. He wished the Vice President good health, wisdom, strength and fulfilment in the years ahead.

Akpabio also prayed for Nigeria to become more peaceful, prosperous and confident in its diversity, while wishing Shettima continued strength and guidance in his service to the country.
