The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers and dismantled a suspected criminal hideout in Ikara Local Government Area following information provided by an escaped kidnapping victim and members of the public.
The operation began after the victim, who managed to escape from captivity, reported his abduction to the police on Tuesday. He reportedly identified a house in Dogon Pako Village, Ikara, as the location where he had been held.
Acting on the information, officers from the Ikara Police Division mobilised alongside members of the local vigilante service to raid the identified building. The operation resulted in the arrest of six suspects aged between 20 and 65.
The suspects, according to the Kaduna State Police Command, remain in custody as investigators work to determine their alleged individual roles in the kidnapping operation.
The command said efforts are also underway to track down other members of the suspected criminal network who remain at large.
The police spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the operation was made possible by credible information from the escaped victim and intelligence supplied by members of the public.
Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu praised the police operatives and residents who provided information that helped authorities act quickly. He urged communities across Kaduna State to remain alert and report suspicious individuals, movements and activities to the nearest police station.
Rabiu also warned residents to pay attention to the possible use of residential buildings as hideouts or holding locations for kidnapped victims, stressing that community vigilance and prompt information-sharing are essential to disrupting kidnapping networks.
