Arsenal Agree Personal Terms With Ezri Konsa as Aston Villa Transfer Moves Closer

Arsenal have reportedly agreed personal terms with Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, with the England international now edging closer to a move to the Premier League champions.
Sky Sports News understands that negotiations over Konsa’s proposed transfer could progress quickly after the 28-year-old reached an agreement on personal terms with Arsenal.
The Gunners have been tracking Konsa throughout the summer as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his defence. Arsenal are currently dealing with injuries to William Saliba and Jurrien Timber, increasing the need for another versatile defensive option.
Villa had initially placed a £60 million valuation on Konsa, but that figure was considered too high by Arsenal. The two clubs will now need to reach an agreement over the transfer fee before the deal can be completed.
Konsa has two years remaining on his Aston Villa contract and was notably absent from Unai Emery’s squad for Villa’s UEFA Super Cup defeat by Paris Saint-Germain last week. His absence has added to speculation surrounding his future.
The England defender would offer Arsenal valuable flexibility. Konsa can operate at centre-back and right-back, giving Arteta another option across two positions at a time when defensive depth is being tested.
His numbers also explain Arsenal’s interest. Konsa won more ground duels than any other Premier League player last season, finishing ahead of notable defenders including Virgil van Dijk and Arsenal’s Gabriel. His ability to win physical battles fits closely with Arteta’s demands.
A successful deal would strengthen an Arsenal squad already expected to challenge for another Premier League title. Arteta has made clear that the club wants to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level, but the Gunners are still searching for another forward before the transfer window closes.
