Former senator representing Imo North Senatorial District, Ifeanyi Araraume, has dismissed a statement circulating on social media about the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary, describing it as fake and unauthorised.
In a disclaimer issued on Wednesday through his communications team, Araraume said he neither authored nor approved the publication titled “A Message of Gratitude, Unity, and a Clarion Call to Rebuild Okigwe Zone.” He alleged that the document was fabricated by individuals seeking to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension within the APC in Imo State.
The former lawmaker said the publication falsely portrayed his position on the Imo North Senatorial primary and urged party members and the public to disregard it. He maintained that he remains a loyal and disciplined member of the APC and would continue to respect the party’s internal processes.
According to the statement, Araraume has not declared himself the APC candidate for the Imo North Senatorial District. He said he is awaiting the party’s official decision on the outcome of the primary and would communicate only through recognised and authorised channels.
“As a firm believer in constitutional democracy and party supremacy, Senator Araraume is patiently awaiting the official position and final decision of the party regarding the Imo North Senatorial Primary,” the statement said.
Araraume also dismissed reports suggesting a political rift between him and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, describing their relationship as cordial and founded on mutual respect. He insisted that claims of disagreement or hostility between them were baseless and intended to create division within the party.
The former senator accused the authors of the alleged statement of attempting to misrepresent his views and destabilise the APC in the state. He said their efforts to sow discord among party members would not succeed.
Reaffirming his commitment to the ruling party, Araraume pledged continued support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and reiterated his dedication to promoting unity, stability and development in Imo State and across Nigeria through lawful and democratic means.
