Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Queen Mercy Atang, has sparked global attention after Guinness World Records reacted to her headline-making bread-inspired outfit worn at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
The reality star, popularly known as Queen, became one of the most talked-about personalities at the event after arriving on the AMVCA red carpet in an elaborate costume designed to resemble loaves of bread — a bold fashion statement linked to her bakery business.
The conversation took a new turn when Guinness World Records joined the discussion under a video posted on Queen’s Instagram page, hinting at a possible record-related connection.
“Well, we do have a record for the largest cake dress … hmmm,” the official Guinness World Records account commented, immediately triggering excitement among fans and social media users.
Reacting to the unexpected attention, Queen replied, “Hello @guinnessworldrecords, I see you in the comment section,” further fueling online speculation about whether her outfit could inspire a future world record attempt.
According to Guinness World Records, the current title for the world’s largest wearable cake dress belongs to Natasha Coline Kim Fah Lee Fokas of SweetyCakes GmbH in Switzerland, who achieved the feat in January 2023 with a dress weighing 131.15 kilograms.
Queen’s unconventional appearance has continued to dominate conversations days after the AMVCA, attracting reactions from fashion lovers, branding experts and international social media platforms.
Explaining the inspiration behind the outfit, the entrepreneur said the costume represented her journey in the food industry and served as a creative expression of her bakery brand.
“AMVCA 2026 ready. I come as an entrepreneur who runs a bread EMPIRE,” she wrote while unveiling the look online.
The attention generated by the outfit has also inspired a wave of AI-generated recreations and brand-themed fashion concepts shared by entrepreneurs and creatives across social media.
Queen has since proposed the creation of a dedicated entrepreneurs-focused segment within the AMVCA celebrations, suggesting an event where business owners can showcase their brands and creativity.
In an open message to MultiChoice and Africa Magic, she proposed the idea of an “AMVCA Nigerian Entrepreneurs Night,” describing it as a platform that could celebrate innovation, branding and entrepreneurship in Nigeria.
While the outfit drew criticism from some Nigerians who considered it excessive, others praised it as a highly effective branding strategy that succeeded in capturing international attention for her business.
Videos from the red carpet showed Queen carefully adjusting the dramatic costume while interacting with guests and posing for photographs, moments that quickly went viral online and kept the conversation trending across entertainment platforms.
