Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has responded to persistent online criticism targeting her and her family, saying she has no regrets about her activism despite the backlash it has attracted.
Ojo addressed the controversy in a lengthy statement shared on Instagram on Wednesday, urging social media users to be more critical of allegations made online and to demand evidence before accepting claims about other people.
“Anyone who alleges must prove. No one is above the law. Don’t be deceived. The law and justice will take their full course,” the actress wrote.
She also warned against what she described as online manipulation, particularly when individuals claim to have evidence against others but fail to present it for independent verification. Ojo urged members of the public to avoid accepting such claims simply because they are made confidently on social media.
The actress said her public life has never been limited to entertainment, noting that activism has been an important part of her identity. She maintained that her decision to speak out on issues affecting others had exposed her to criticism but had not changed her conviction.
“I have NO regrets. I repeat, I have NO regrets helping and fighting for those I fought for. If I had the opportunity to do it again, I would. I just no longer bring it to social media,” she said.
Ojo attributed the attacks she and her family have faced online to her activism and said she remained confident that she had acted on what she believed was the right path. She also said her faith had helped her remain resilient amid the criticism.
The actress further expressed confidence in the wellbeing and future of her family, saying the online attacks would not determine their story. Her comments come as she continues to maintain a public presence that combines her Nollywood career with advocacy on social issues.
