A noticeable fallout appears to be brewing between popular Nigerian social media influencer VeryDarkMan and Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti after both figures unfollowed each other on Instagram, triggering widespread speculation among fans.
The development has stirred conversations online, especially as it coincides with VeryDarkMan’s ongoing legal dispute involving businessman Blord, adding further tension to an already heated social media environment.
Although neither party has publicly explained the reason for the social media split, Seun Kuti appeared to fuel the speculation with a post on his Instagram story on Wednesday, where he mocked VeryDarkMan’s supporters, popularly known as “Ratel.”
In the post, Seun wrote: “You are rats, not ratels. Why una dey disguise?” a statement that quickly went viral and intensified discussions about a possible rift between the two public figures.
The pair had previously been seen as allies, with VeryDarkMan openly supporting Seun Kuti during his public dispute with singer Wizkid over comments relating to the legacy of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti.
VeryDarkMan, who is often vocal on social and political issues, had also visited Fela Kuti’s shrine and grave in the past, where he performed what he described as a ritual involving a ram, a move that drew mixed reactions online.
The sudden change in their online relationship has now left fans questioning whether the situation is a temporary disagreement or a deeper personal and ideological clash.
As of now, neither VeryDarkMan nor Seun Kuti has issued an official statement clarifying the status of their relationship, leaving room for continued speculation across social media platforms.
