Three security personnel from different agencies collapsed during the inauguration of Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, on Tuesday at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
The affected operatives included a male police officer, a male Directorate of State Services (DSS) operative, and a female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The police officer collapsed first, followed later by the NSCDC officer, who slumped toward the end of the event. She initially refused to be moved on a stretcher but was eventually escorted to an ambulance.
A source confirmed that the police officer was resuscitated but remained unstable and was transported to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, for further care.
The incident was reportedly caused by fatigue and prolonged exposure during the parade under harsh sunny conditions.
