Fresh rumours suggesting a looming divorce between Nigerian music stars Simi and Adekunle Gold have been firmly denied by the singer’s management, which described a viral court document as “fake and fabricated.”

The controversy erupted after a purported divorce petition — allegedly filed by Adekunle Gold at the Lagos State High Court — surfaced online. The document, dated February 28, 2026, claimed the couple’s marriage had “irretrievably broken down,” citing alleged emotional, financial and professional control. It further sought dissolution of the marriage and joint custody of their child.

However, Simi’s manager, Vincent, dismissed the document outright, pointing to what he described as glaring legal inconsistencies.

“It’s fake and fabricated. First, stage names are not tenable in any court of justice worldwide as indicated in the document. Even the suit number on the document is backdated to 2024 (SUIT NO HCL/FC/2024/0178),” he said.

According to him, the use of professional stage names rather than legal identities, alongside a questionable suit number, undermines the document’s authenticity and suggests it did not originate from any legitimate court process.

Social Media Speculation Intensifies

The denial follows days of intense speculation across social media platforms, where fans dissected resurfaced posts previously attributed to Simi. Some users interpreted the old messages as subtle hints of tension within the celebrity marriage.

Adekunle Gold’s recent return to social media after a brief hiatus further fueled online narratives, with observers attaching deeper meanings to his posts.

Despite the swirling rumours, neither Simi nor Adekunle Gold has publicly addressed the claims.

NAPTIP Responds to Separate Controversy

The divorce claims emerged amid another controversy involving Simi. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) recently confirmed it is reviewing concerns linked to resurfaced tweets from the singer’s past.

In a statement issued on February 24, the agency said it remains committed to investigating credible reports relating to alleged misconduct in daycare environments, following online calls for authorities to examine the matter.

Past Comments Resurface

Simi had previously sparked debate after criticising men who complain about receiving less attention following childbirth. In a widely circulated video, she urged greater empathy for women recovering from delivery, highlighting the physical and emotional toll many mothers endure.

As speculation continues to circulate online, her management insists that the alleged divorce filing is entirely fabricated.
