The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Strategic Command has dislodged multiple drug joints across Kano State, arresting 56 suspects during a three-day operation, officials confirmed.
The agency’s Spokesman, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, said the operation, conducted between February 6 and 8, targeted notorious drug locations in Kofar Mata, Fagge, Kasuwar Rimi, Medile, Badawa, and Sabon Gari, as part of “Operation Ramadan Mubarak.”
Mr. Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal, the NDLEA Kano State Commander, explained that the raids aimed to dismantle illegal drug distribution networks and restore safety to communities affected by drug-related activities. “The focused action was designed to disrupt drug distribution channels and sustain pressure on criminal networks that have long operated in these communities,” he said.
During the raids, operatives recovered various controlled substances, including cannabis sativa, Exol-5, diazepam, and pregabalin, among other illicit drugs.
Yahaya-Lawal disclosed that one suspect, 30-year-old Yunusa Yasin from Badawa, is linked to a homicide case that occurred five years ago. He has been handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commander reiterated the NDLEA’s commitment to achieving a drug-free Kano in line with the agenda of the NDLEA Chairman/CEO, retired Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba-Marwa, and urged the public to continue providing intelligence on drug-related activities to help safeguard communities.
