A man bearing an uncanny resemblance to the late Nigerian comedian and actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has gone viral on social media following his wedding earlier this year.
Popular influencer Tunde Ednut shared heartwarming clips from the ceremony on his Instagram page on Wednesday, March 11, congratulating the couple and asking his followers, “Question. Between me and you, who this my guy resemble?” The videos captured the groom and his bride in intimate, joyful moments as they celebrated their union.
Mr Ibu, who passed away in 2024 at the age of 62, had battled health challenges since October 2023, including the amputation of a leg, and ultimately died of cardiac arrest on Saturday, March 2, 2024. The veteran actor featured in over 200 Nollywood films, including Mr Ibu, Mr Ibu and His Son, Coffin Producers, Husband Suppliers, International Players, Mr Ibu in London, Police Recruit, 9 Wives, Ibu in Prison, and Keziah, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The wedding footage of Mr Ibu’s doppelganger has stirred nostalgia among fans, with many taking to social media to comment on the striking resemblance and celebrate the joyful occasion. Earlier, a Ghanaian model also made headlines at the 2025 AMVCA for wearing an outfit adorned with images of late Nollywood icons, including Mr Ibu, as a tribute to the stars who shaped the industry.
The surge of online attention highlights how the memory of Mr Ibu continues to resonate with fans, sparking both admiration and lighthearted discussions about his lookalike.
