Pop superstar Rihanna was inside her Los Angeles home when a woman allegedly opened fire on the property on Sunday afternoon, sending shockwaves through the quiet celebrity enclave of Beverly Crest.
The shooting occurred around 1:15 pm at the singer’s mansion in Beverly Crest, an exclusive neighborhood just outside Beverly Hills in Los Angeles. Police said the suspect, believed to be a woman in her 30s, drove up to the residence and fired multiple rounds using what officers described as an AR-15-style rifle.
Authorities confirmed that Rihanna was inside the mansion during the attack. The singer lives at the property with her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, and their children, though it was not immediately clear whether the rapper or the children were present when the gunfire erupted.
Investigators said at least one bullet pierced a wall of the residence, while other rounds or fragments struck parts of the property. Despite the alarming nature of the attack, officials confirmed that no injuries were reported.
The suspect fled the scene shortly after the shooting but was arrested a short time later without incident. Police also recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the attack. Authorities have yet to release the suspect’s identity, saying additional details, including possible charges, will be announced later.
The investigation is being handled by the elite R-H Division of the Los Angeles Police Department, which responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon at the luxury residence.
Video footage aired by NBC Los Angeles showed bullet holes in a gate near the mansion, while yellow crime-scene tape was used to block off the street outside the property as officers secured the area.
Police say the motive for the shooting remains unclear. Representatives for Rihanna and A$AP Rocky did not immediately respond to requests for comment following the incident.
The shooting has stunned residents of Beverly Crest, an area known for high-end homes and celebrity occupants, where violent incidents are rare.
