Makurdi, Benue State – Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has inaugurated a committee tasked with restructuring the mandates and supervision of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Benue State’s civil service. The move is aimed at boosting efficiency and improving service delivery across the system.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony at Government House, Makurdi, Alia instructed the committee to review the mandates of existing MDAs, including ministries, bureaus, commissions, and state-owned enterprises, and propose adjustments to ensure effective supervision. The panel, led by Deputy Governor Barr. Sam Ode, will also examine the roles of political appointees such as Special Advisers and Assistants, and address overlapping functions within the civil service.

“This is a very serious assignment and I urge you to take it very seriously. This initiative is aimed at restoring standard operational procedures, strengthening institutional values, and enhancing the quality of personnel for optimal performance in the civil service,” the governor said. He described the committee’s work as a call to service and assured them of full government support.

Responding on behalf of the committee, Barr. Bernard Hom, SAN, expressed appreciation for the confidence placed in the members and pledged to carry out the assignment diligently.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, the committee, comprising select distinguished indigenes of Benue State, is expected to submit its report within two months for government consideration.
