A media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Paul Ibe, has accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of institutionalising document forgery within Nigeria’s electoral and governance systems.
In a statement posted on his verified X account, Ibe alleged that the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) had engaged in what he described as widespread “forgery” across multiple sectors.
Allegations Across Sectors
According to Ibe, the alleged irregularities extend to tax reform laws, the Electoral Amendment Act 2026, academic credentials, and federal government projects.
“What the Tinubu-led APC administration cannot forge does not exist,” Ibe wrote, claiming that legislative amendments and official documents had been manipulated.
He also referenced a February 2026 report by Premium Times and Tracka which allegedly identified 92 federal government projects as “ghost projects.”
Claims on Electoral Documentation
Ibe further alleged that school certificates and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificates required for election qualification had been subject to forgery. He claimed the administration had effectively normalised the presentation of forged documents in the political process.
“By this law, it is now legal to present forged documents for consideration as an aspirant and candidate in the 2027 primaries and general elections,” he stated.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the Presidency or the APC regarding the allegations.
